Local Attractions in Tribune:

3. Greeley County Swimming Pool (Seasonal)—Great for families or those needing to cool off in the summer months.

4. Tribune Golf Course—A quiet 9-hole course located just outside town. Perfect for relaxed play with Western Kansas scenery all around. 

5. Greeley County Museum—Take a stroll through local history with exhibits showcasing pioneer life, Native American artifacts, and vintage farming tools. A great way to connect with the heritage of the area.

6. Saks on Broadway- a unique second-hand boutique that offers a little bit of everything—from clothing and accessories to furniture, antiques, and home goods. Saks is the perfect spot for treasure hunting, whether you’re looking for something practical or something with character.  It’s locally loved for its charm, affordability, and ever-changing inventory.

Dining:

1. Redeeming Grounds (located in the back of Thumper Hardware) Locally owned coffee shop serving espresso and cold brew drinks, baked goods, homemade breakfast burritos, deli sandwiches/wraps, dirty sodas, and special seasonal drinks—great for a cozy morning or light lunch.

2. Uptown-a casual sit-down spot with classic American-fare—burgers, sandwiches, and daily specials in a relaxed small-town setting. It also features pool tables, pinball games, and  corn hole, making it a hangout spot for both locals and visitors looking for good food and a little fun. 

3. Fortanel’s Bakery—they serve authentic Mexican food like burritos and tacos, along with sandwiches, subs, fries, and other comfort foods. Be sure to save room for hand-scooped ice cream, cakes, and donuts. 

4. The Family Kitchen—a local diner-style spot known for its burgers, crispy chicken sandwiches, french fries, and fried pickles.  They also feature a rotating daily special, offering guests a taste of home-style cooking in a laid-back, friendly setting.  

Outdoor Adventures:

1. Lake Scott State Park (Appprox. 1.5 hours east) A stunning oasis in the prairie with hiking trails, fishing, swimming, and picnic areas. Don’t miss the historic El Cuartelejo ruins—the only known Native American pueblo in Kansas.

2. Mount Sunflower (40 minutes west) The highest natural point in Kansas! It’s a fun and quirky road trip photo op, with a unique sign and sunflower sculpture making the spot. 

3. Smoky Valley Ranch & Monument Rocks (Approx. 2 hours east/northeast) An incredible day trip for nature lovers and photographers. Monument Rocks—massive chalk formations rising from the plains—are part of the National Natural Landmark registry. 

Unique Western Kansas Experiences:

1. Kansas High Plains Scenic Byway—A beautiful drive through expansive farmland and rolling hills, with wide skies and unforgettable sunsets.

2. Local Rodeos & County Fairs— Check with us or the Greeley County Development website (http://greeleycounty.org/greeley-county-community-development/) for dates and seasonal events, like the Greeley County Fair or community rodeos—fun for all ages and a great slice of Kansas culture.

3. Prairie Palooza--From June to October, join the locals once a month in downtown Tribune for Prairie Palooza—an evening of live music, great food hosted by community groups, and fun street games like corn hole. Bring a chair, soak up the small-town charm, and enjoy the best of Tribune just minutes from your stay at Frontier Suites.

4.  Prairie Wildlife Viewing—Bring your binoculars! Deer, pheasants, prairie dogs, and even occasional antelope can be spotted in the area.
